The 11th European Local Government Congress in Mikołajki is now behind us. The event attracted over 3,000 participants and included more than 250 debates, sessions, workshops and expert meetings. This year's edition was held under the slogan:
‘Local government in times of uncertainty – local responses to global challenges’.
Among the particularly important topics were the future of social and municipal housing, as well as the role of technology in accelerating housing investment. Unihouse actively participated in these discussions, presenting its experience from modular projects implemented for municipalities in Poland.
Panel: ‘Social housing: Building new flats or modernising vacant properties?’
The first panel discussed the directions of development of rental resources and how local governments can respond to the growing demand for housing.
Kamil Kowalczyk, Member of the Management Board of Unihouse, pointed out that modular construction allows for shorter completion times and eliminates some of the risks associated with the modernisation of older buildings.
The discussion was also attended by:
Panel: ‘Housing investments and regional competitiveness’
The second panel discussed the impact of housing availability on regional economic development. Participants discussed the importance of the pace of investment for professional mobility, local labour markets and the ability to attract investors.
Alongside Kamil Kowalczyk, the panel included:
Both discussions showed that local governments expect tools that enable them to quickly increase the availability of housing while maintaining high standards and controlling costs. Modular technology solutions fit these needs well — they allow for phased, predictable investment planning in line with local demographic challenges.
We would like to thank the organisers, partners and all panellists for the valuable discussions and the opportunity to exchange experiences.
We look forward to seeing you at future industry events.
