Between April 23–25, 2025, Katowice became the center of the most important economic debate in Central Europe. The 17th European Economic Congress (EEC) gathered thousands of participants at the International Congress Center: market leaders, government and local government representatives, experts, investors, and business practitioners. This event, serving as a broad forum for exchanging opinions and experiences, focused on the future of the European and Polish economies, the green transition, digitalization, investments, and regional development.
This year, particular emphasis was placed on the challenges of competitiveness, economic independence, new models of international cooperation, and the role of business in shaping a new dynamic for Europe's development. The Congress became a space for presenting innovative solutions for the construction and investment industries, including modern modular technologies and prefabrication.
Kamil Kowalczyk, a member of the Management Board of Unihouse, participated in the panel "The Housing Market in Poland" alongside industry leaders such as Zbigniew Juroszek (ATAL SA), Marcin Michalec (OKAM Capital), Bogumił Sobula (Deputy Mayor of Katowice), Grzegorz Tomaszewski (PFR Nieruchomości), and Katarzyna Unold (TDJ Estate).
The discussion focused on the growing housing needs, the role of prefabrication, and the availability of housing in large cities.
Kamil Kowalczyk emphasized that the construction industry is at a turning point. Traditional construction is struggling with rising costs, labor shortages, and prolonged completion times. Modular technology shortens construction time by 30–50%, ensures constant factory quality, reduces the number of errors, and provides cost predictability. Unihouse modular buildings are characterized by a lower carbon footprint and better energy performance, aligning with the assumptions of the green transition and ESG principles. Numerous completed investments already confirm the efficiency of this technology – these are no longer pilot projects but systemic solutions being implemented across Poland.
Institutional investors, local governments, and SIM companies are increasingly choosing prefabrication as a tool for building affordable, efficient housing. This is the perfect time to promote modular technology as a response to the economic, environmental, and organizational challenges of the housing market.
In the panel "Investments in Local Governments," Kamil Kowalczyk discussed with Bartosz Dominiak (Ministry of Digital Affairs), Jan Pilewski (Play), Maciej Stachura (Secretary of the City of Katowice), and Jacek Wojciechowicz (Mayor of Racibórz), moderated by Dominika Sikora.
He highlighted that local governments today must spend funds quickly and efficiently, often under time pressure and uncertainty regarding the full use of KPO funds. Modular investments help reduce this risk – they offer process predictability, product scalability, and certainty in achieving set goals. Prefabrication technology enables clear implementation rules and a predictable final outcome, which is crucial in the context of financing requirements and time pressure.
Representatives of Unibep S.A. also actively participated in the event:
Dariusz Blocher (Member of the Supervisory Board of Unibep SA) spoke about cooperation between large companies and SMEs and modern financing models in construction.
Andrzej Sterczyński (President of Unibep SA) addressed investments in defense infrastructure and strategic development directions.
Leszek Gołąbiecki (Vice President of Unibep SA) emphasized the role of companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine and international partnerships.
Adam Poliński (Vice President of Unibep SA) explained why infrastructure investments are key to sustainable development today.
Aneta Andruszkiewicz (HR Director of Unibep SA) shared experiences in team management and the new work culture.
